Center console removal

Postby bobes75 - March 8th, 2010, 1:16 pm

Hey,

Does anyone have the instructions and/or pictures on how to remove the center console in a 2006 escape? Trying to run wires under the center console housing but wasn't sure how to get it removed. Thanks in advance.

You're welcome!

I did it several times on my '05. The thing to watch out for? The spring nuts under the sides of the console. Make sure they don't fall or get pushed off as you reassemble the console.

Also, the easiest way to remove the trim ring around the shifter is to slowly lift up on the upper trim piece (item 4 on the diagram). You'll hear a ratcheting sound as the bracket moves up through a set of teeth. Do this slowly and carefully, and the trim ring will come off without anything going wrong.
