The newer 2.5L HEV engine has significantly greater low end torque than the 2.3L HEV engine.

I woonder what the 2.0L EcoBoost engine torque will look like? It will likely be similar to the 2.5L HEV in that is presents a long flat plateau.

It's the slightly longer rods at work for that bottom end torque. I am sure the computer map has a lot to do with it as well. As for the 2.0L Ecoboost engine, do you know that is what they are going to use on the future HEV?

The 4 cylinder 2.0L EcoBoost is scheduled to be one of the engines (standard?) for the next generation non-hybrid Escape (2012). It is unknown what engine the hybrid version will utilized. The exact USA specifications have not been released but Ford of Europe has released a 2.0L EcoBoost engine with 237 hp! See this link: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/show ... p?t=234753
This link: http://blogs.insideline.com/straightlin ... ngine.html claims 275 HP for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine for the 2011 Explorer! This link: http://www.insideline.com/ford/edge/201 ... -show.html speculates the 2011 Ford Edge with the 2.0L engine might return 21 mpg City and 30 Highway! It is going to be interesting to see what the new Ecoboost engines provide in performance and mileage.

Now if only we could convince Ford to put that EcoBoost in the new Focus. :calvin: I thought I read that the new Focus would be getting a 1.6L EcoBoost or something like that, but maybe that was the Fiesta.
