2014 Escape Information Display Question

Postby Charles - October 10th, 2013, 11:02 am

As many of you are aware, I picked up a 2014 Ti level Escape on Tuesday.

I have a question about what is displayed on the Information Display. According to page 89 of the latest version of the 2014 Ford Escape Owner's Manual (screenshot below), the vehicle has the ability to display the digital speedometer reading under Trip1 and Trip2.

Image

Here is what is happening when I scroll through the choices under Trip1 as well as Trip2 in my Escape.

Screenshot for step prior to Digital Speedo.

Image

It does not show anything resembling a digital version of the speedometer.

Screenshot for step after Digital Speedo.

Am I doing something wrong or misinterpreting the owner's manual?? :?

On my 2013 I had the Anticipation and Speed screens option on my display UNTIL the I had the update that added the quad screen display and fixed the fuel gauge range issue. After that, it no longer existed... Thus, I think the 2014 manual may be wrong and referring to the old screen scheme... The Anticipation and Speed info was virtually worthless though, so I don't miss it!

Its still there. While on the average fuel screen (Not the quad screen), go to the right and it'll show. I agree, its pretty useless on a day to day basis.

Interesting. I wonder if this is part of a future update? I certainly don't have it on my 2013.

Ahh, OK, thanks; I'll go look for it there if I get really bored...

An instantaneous MPG display and boost gauge would be a lot more valuable though, IMHO...

+1 for the boost gauge! I have a OBD bluetooth reader so I can pull up the boost pressure on my phone, but it would be so much better if this was built into the info display. Knowing when the boost kicks in really helps with fuel economy...or when you are having fun its awesome to see the gauge go way to the right when you put the foot down!
