Hey guys, my wife's 2005 V6 4x4 Escape has a vibration at idle felt in the steering wheel or in the center console gear selector. It usually happens before warm up, but only happens at idle in drive, once you put it in neutral or accelerate it stops. I was thinking this could be the transmission mount or motor mounts? Any other suggestions would be appreciated so I can take a look this weekend. Thanks

Wow, must be a common problem, I have an '05 XLT 4x4 as well and I noticed the same thing, mine has 89K miles on it, it's just a small vibration, I took mine into the shop today to have the ball joints and control arms looked at so maybe they will notice the vibration. I'm hoping it's nothing and just normal for the age and mileage for my vehicle.

This is just a generic, random guess, but I would look at one of two things:

- Motor mounts that are torn or wearing out
- Vacuum lines that are hard, brittle, or disintegrating (including the rubber air intake tube)

The passenger side oil dampened engine mount is common to fail as the truck ages.

In the photo below, you'll see what I am referring to.

The mount on the right has collapsed significantly causing a thud (vibration) that can be heard and felt inside the vehicle.

The collapsed mount causes the mount's metal body to butt up against the top bracket.

The replacement mount adds more clearance and eliminates vibration.

Take a look under the hood and see if you can spot the collapsed mount. (Item 6068A in the diagram).

I just did a quick check of part numbers between the 2001 and 2005 escape V6 front engine mount and the they both come back with the same Anchor part # 3056.

I know for a fact I've changed about 5 of these mounts but I was unsure of the 2005 (most of the units I have changed have been between 2001 and 2003). I just wanted to be sure we are talking about the same mount.

It appears you have some sort of spacer between the mount and the bracket. See if you can get a mirror in there and have a better look to ensure there is no metal to metal contact.

It might be worth another look. Good luck.

That's Anchor though - I've always found the quality of aftermarket mounts to be subpar, as compared to OEM. Normally, I'm all for the best deal, but this is one area I won't skimp on. Perhaps in Anchor's case, the same p/n is used, but to a detrimental effect on the Escape?

Thanks for the replies, I have ordered the passenger side engine mount (#6068A) and will install it this weekend. I will let y'all know if it fixes the problem.
Where did you order your part from? Did you get it online or from an Auto parts store? I'm just curious because I'll be replacing mine on a nice weekend after I get them.

Hey guys I already replace the mount but the problem still, do you have any other sugestion??
This post is over a year old...Any more info on your problem, like when does it vibrate, where do u feel it,worse at certain times, only does it on gear, driving, etc...

Could be a variety of things..And history on your escape like last time tune up, what has been done so far to try fix vibration and what has been done for tune up and what brand parts were used.

Alot scenarios can contribute to problem...

Hi All, I been having this problem as well, any updates on this? I have 276,000km on mine, I still love my escape but lately it's been a money pit. Mine does not vibrate until I put it in drive and the RPM's drop slightly below 1000. While in park it is OK and above 1000 it is OK. So far because of other issues I have replaced the computer, spark plugs and all coils to weapon X performance. I also have very poor gas milage and an OBD2 error P0193 (fuel rail presure sensor high input) for this I started with the fuel filter, reset the ECM and it came back 2 weeks later. I've also done all 3 cats last year and recently had a cat efficency error? Could this all be related? With P0193 should I replace the sensor or fuel pump? I'm not real good with measuring voltages and stuff, just an avid do-it-yourselfer and looking for an educated guess or similiar experience from someone.

Thanks guys!
