First off, I came over here from escape-central. That forum seems to be completely dead so I needed a new place for updated info. (thanks J Park).

I am the original owner of my 01 escape and recently rear ended a ford explorer. I need new headlights so I decided I might as well get the 05's.

My question is...I can purchase a light but it is missing the orange reflector for the turn signal. I already have the headlight for the other side and it has the reflector. Is it easy to remove this piece so I can make the headlights match or should I just look for another headlight with the reflector in it? I don't know why this one doesn't have it in the first place but I assume it must have been broken.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to E-C!

That light could be from anywhere in the European or Asian markets. The problem that you might run into with it (aside from not passing inspection in some states because of the lack of a reflector) is that it might have been installed on a right-drive Escape, which means that the beam pattern won't be designed for the US market (the beam is aimed mainly straight ahead and partially to the left, and the beam cutoff is sharper, so overhead signs won't show up as well).

That is good to know. I just went ahead and picked up a oem one with a reflector in it so I am guessing it is a US model.
