The check engine light on my 2006 Ford Escape frequently comes on over the course of the last two years, without anything wrong that I can tell (MPG consistent at 27-30 MPG, no electric issues, not sluggish and doesn't have anything that sounds like a misfiring engine). When I get my oil changed at the Ford dealership, they say they can not see anything wrong. They say that the light has too be on for them to detect what is wrong. Any hints as to what is the problem? Thanks. Kent

Normally a check engine light will throw a code that can be read. Thus a problem identified. If one can not read a code, then it is good luck in finding the issue.

Welcome to the City airforde.
I am not familiar with the Hybrid model but what is happenning with your check engine light is a rare but true occurence.
1/I would get a scaner and plug it in so the next time the light appears I would pull the code myself.
2/Ambient electromagnetic interference may cause it without actually being something wrong with the car.
Good luck and please keep us posted with the outcome.
