I'm relatively new here and wish I would have joined sooner, there is so much great information, tips, tricks, and helpful people here!

I wanted to find out where everyone is at who has pushed their Escape over the 100K marker (I know there's a lot out there!) and the steps they took to get it there, and maybe some of those hiccups along the way. I'm asking for this as I am getting closer and closer to that beautiful milestone and I'm sure there are others too who would also like to hear from the 100K club on what they do to keep the 'Great Escapes' running!

Any feedback is appreciated by me and other members, especially those of us who hope to take ours to the 100K milestone and beyond!!

I'm at over 154,000 on mine. I didn't own it that entire time, but was riding in it, and I believe what dad always did, and I continued, is regularly change the oil and if it breaks, fix it. Of course driving habits helps, one thing I have not mastered, but despite it's rough treatment it has held up like a champ, and to that end when I do find parts I've abused and worn out they will be replaced, no sense in getting a new one and spending a ton of money when I can maintain this one for a few $1k or so jobs over the years.

Problems you may run into during your 100k run:

Tie rod ends, the OEM set do not have a grease fitting, aftermarket ones do. The OEM ones wore out, the aftermarket set have not, despite being subdued to a lot more abuse, only they get a dose of new grease every now and then.

Brakes, these will probably need replacing at some point before 100k, however they have not needed to be replaced since so that is a pretty long life item.

Rear wiper motor, and/or spray nozzle. One or both of these may fail, both are easy to fix.

Sticky gas pedal. Some mechanism in the throttle linkage gums up, my mechanic noticed it and fixed it no problem, so I'm not even sure what he did, all I know is it hasn't given me any trouble since, and he didn't do much of anything to fix it.

Coil, my coil went bad for unknown reasons, but that is a fairly common issue.

And that is all I can think of for now. Good luck with your Escape and many miles! :thumb:

135,000K On my '01.

My Problems...

Left Front Wheel Bearing went out
Rear Wiper Motor quit
Right Front tie rod needed replaced
1 Bad Coil
Starting and Idling problems. Clean IAC Valve and Replace Fuel Filter and/or Pump.

Tips:
Oil change every 3-4,000. I use Motorcraft full synthetic.
Do not ignore abnormal noises.
If all else fails, seek professional help.

How did you handle the transmission fluid changes? Follow the factory maintenance schedule or swap fluid out every 30 or so?

132,000 on our 2005 Escape Hybrid (though I have to clarify, the odometer is in kilometres so the reading would be just over 82,000 miles).

No significant problems to report… two leaking rear shock absorbers replaced under warranty within the first year, and a recall notice to replace a battery strap (hybrid models only).

Beyond that, we replaced all four tyres earlier this year shortly before taking a road trip north to the Arctic Circle and back.

We'll likely keep the '05 FEH for another couple of years, until the plug-in hybrid Escape debuts (2012?).

late 2003 Maverick 2.0 XLT with 135,500 miles on the clock.

Faults and repairs....

New front bumper due to accident damage (not my fault...!)
2X Anti Roll Bars in Nov 2009
2X New Brake Discs and Pads June 2020
2X New ABS Sensor Rings in June 2010
1X New Cylinder head Gasket in June 2010
1X Replacement Battery in Sept 2010
2X Track Rod Ends in Nov 2010
4X New tyres in Nov 2010

Plus new Sparkplugs every 12,000 miles
Oil Change every 6000 miles
Brake fluid change every 24,000 miles
Coolant change every 24,000 miles

Intermittant idling fault, still ongoing :-(

OK this year has been expensive, but I can't complain as it's in the main a reliable car, and looks as good as it did when it was new...

121,000 miles. Had it since it 77,000. Nothing too significant.

2 - Ignition coils
1 - Brake booster (Got tired of it hissing at me)
1 - Rear hatch actuator
2 - Sway bar end links

Everything else was by choice and not required. Regular maintenance and attention to detail will go a long ways.

'02 and I just passed 65K miles.......so I got a ways to go before I hit 100K :thumb:
That's really low for an '02! I love this car, I hope I can keep it going for many many miles, it's fun to drive, you can load it up, tow, and even fit in those tight street spots in the city! I also love hearing how many people have their escapes past the 100K miestone, it really does show Ford builds quality products and more people should take notice.

What I'm curious to know is how many of us 08+ Escape owners are going to end up having to replace our auto transmissions after the warranty is expired...

I think you'll have a while to go before you find that out, especially if you keep it clean! Good luck!

I would suspect that the failure rate for the 2008 automatic transmissions would be similar to those from 2001-2007 since it is the same CD4E transmission.

Those of us with the new 6F35 in the 2009-2011 models may not fare any better than those with the CD4E do/ did. I came across these videos in the past week.

I found a few videos with the same symptoms happening in 2010 Fusions featuring the same 6F35 transmission. Methinks buying that extended warranty might be a good idea... :worry:
