Resonator is right by the rear wheel, muffler is between the front and rear wheels.

The only thing the resonator really is good for is killing drone. I knocked mine off and noticed the drone immediately, but I'm pretty tolerant of it as I think it sounds pretty good with this 0-10F degree air that my engine is sucking in. Otherwise, it's gotten to the point where I barely notice it. I'm more irritated by the rattle that I suspect is being caused by the cheap exhaust hanger that was used in my dual exit setup.

Couldn't tell you much about the muffler, other than I know the factory muffler is heavy and most people have come back pretty satisfied after replacing it with something aftermarket. I wouldn't straight-pipe it though. One of our previous members did it and the exhaust videos he has are... um, horrendous.

yes removing 1 resonator and the restrictive muffler would increase engine horse power BUT! your fuel economy would suffer
I suspect the culprit from decreased fuel economy is more aggressive driving resulting from the installation of a new muffler, but that's my opinion
