I was walking around a Ford dealers lot today and I saw my first Escape with the Sport Package so I snapped a few cell phone pics to share:

I took the following shot of the Sport and the XLT next to it because as I was walking around them, it looked like the Sport was shorter... like it used shorter springs. However in the photo, it's hard to see any difference:

I tried to take a shot of the interior but there was a bit too much glare. The center console was a gloss black. It looked really nice... too bad it's hard to tell in the pic:

They also had an all black one on the other side of the dealership that I didn't see until after I started to drive away. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics...

 Now that my hair is cut and my beard is shaved, I can walk on the closed lots without the local constables frisking me :thumb:

The black on the interior is like our Tribute. Piano black, very high shine pieces throughout the interio. The Mazda is called an isport. It basically means the 4 banger 2.3 or now 2.5L engine version. The Escape looks to have grabbed those interior parts, and utilized them inside, and some black on the outside. I'm guessing the black out grill is from the Limited version of the Escape, just used in conjunction with other colors on the bodywork.

Height: could it be the lower profile tires?

That looks Cool! I always thought the new f150's would have looked great with an enlarged version of that front end. I wonder if I'll ever get to see one on the road?
good idea!!!

I was surfing the net and found a few more pics of a 2009 Escape with the Sport Appearance package.

To my eyes the parts look like they came off the shelf with a few exceptions. I thinking the front spoiler and maybe the new rear spoiler are different, but could be wrong. I am also looking at those spoke wheels, and am thinking that I have seen them on another Ford product. Just don't recall what.

It is a good looking package, imo. :thumb:

The front spoiler is the new-for-2009 spoiler that all '09s get. The wheels look to be the 17 inch wheels offered on the Limited with the chrome package, except they are painted black instead of chromed. The piano black gloss trim on the inside is the same stuff Escape Limiteds get. Finally, it looks like it's borrowing the rocker moldings from the Mariner.

In short, it looks like the unique parts are the roof spoiler and blacked-out headlights. Personally, I like the Limited with the black grill better (like Nolescape's). I'm not a fan of the wheels or the roof spoiler, and I'm indifferent about the headlights.

The sport package really isn't that bad: $895 for a lot!
I suppose it can be rationalized that you get alot. Not a bad price for some exclusivity. I thought the Mazda was somewhat unique with it's much lower sales numbers. But I see our Tributes' twins an a monthly basis. Last week at a light one pulled up behind me, and another was two or three cars ahead of us. Same model, same color, isport. I dunno if the interior or the options were identical.
