Attachment III - Technical Information
AFFECTED VEHICLES:
2001 MODEL YEAR ESCAPE SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Remove the right front wheel and tire.

3. Remove the stabilizer bar bracket bolts/bushings. See Figure 1.


4. Detach the stabilizer link nuts from the stabilizer bar (may require hex wrench to prevent ball stud in link from turning). See Figure 2.
NOTE:
Clearance between the stabilizer bar and the vehicle floor pan is minimal and makes removal of the bar difficult. A combination of clockwise turning and pulling of the stabilizer bar is required for removal.


5. Remove the stabilizer bar from the right side of the vehicle. Mutilate and scrap the stabilizer bar.

6. Install the new stabilizer bar into the vehicle.

7. Attach the stabilizer links to the stabilizer bar. Tighten the nuts to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

8. Install the stabilizer bar bushings/brackets and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 70 Nm (52 lb.ft).

9. Install the right front wheel and tire. Use a gray (164-R0308) torque stick to tighten the lug nuts to 133 Nm (98 lb-ft).
