Swapping a module and copying data isn’t hard, could they problem be somewhere else

Diagnostically, you kind of have to go through everything based on what the system tells you

let's check all the boxes first, before you start looking elsewhere

Ok I ran the codes, nothing new has popped up. It still throws the code b1318 for voltage too low on gem

B1318 means battery voltage to the GEM is too low. The GEM is doing what it's designed to do, save the battery, so the GEM turned everything off once the key was off. The GEM is working correctly. Test the battery and alternator. Charge the battery up overnight. Clear all codes. With Forscan, run KAM and then ROEO & KOER self-test. Battery must be fully charged and good. Alternator must be charging correctly for these tests to work.

KAM= keep alive memory. Erases all adaptive memory from PCM. Disconnection of the battery does the same thing.

KOEO= Key on, engine off. During this test, the PCM and other modules, like the GEM, will run a list of internal self tests. The horn will honk, the cooling fans will come on, etc.

KOER= Key on, engine running. This test is run with the engine running. Again, self tests.

Sometimes these self-tests must be run so the BCM/GEM will unlock themselves and start working.

I have done all those and the only thing the gem comes back with is a dome light error

Does the dome light work? Does the light turn on when opening the door?

The dome light works when the key is turned on. It throws a code because the switch is missing for the very back light

Ok, problem with rear dome light. Remove rear dome light housing and disconnect the wiring. Careful, one wire will be hot at all times. Run tests again. What GEM code did you have for the failed dome light?
