I'm on my third first-year Ford.
My 2002 Explorer (all-new that year) was one of the first 10,000 built. My only problem in three years was a DPFE valve that only caused a little engine "misfire" at part-throttle. My dealer fixed it in ten minutes, since they have drive-up service with no appointments.
My 2005 Escape (entirely new electrical system and front-end structure that year) was built on the first day of '05 production. I owned it for three years with no problems.
My 2007 Edge has been totally problem-free so far as well. And although the Fusion is in the third year of production, ours is also problem-free so far.
