I parked outside yesterday at work (as I have to) and after sitting in the cold for 11 hours, the car almost didn't start. it turned over for a few seconds before firing up. Usually it's almost instant when I turn the key. Could this be a battery issue? What else? I do have an aftermarket stereo/subwoofer installed, but that's always off when I start.

I had a similar problem in cold weather and it was the battery. Once I changed it, my Escape fired up normally again. Should be easy to have checked...

I start watching the battery closely after they're 5 or more years old. I had Ford factory battery last as long as 9 years...replaced the battery on my wife's 2000 Windstar last year. Yeah, check the battery.
