How do you get the shifter knob off???
Is it round? Unscrew it from the shaft. Otherwise, there is probably a hidden screw near the bottom. I think that is more the norm for Ford. I'm not sure about the Escape though...
Looks like ours...which my wife drove to work. Otherwise I'd go out and have a look. Basically, I am no help now. Sorry.
Completely useless!!!
:D :peace:
On the front side of the shifter, about a half inch under the trigger, there's a hex screw that secures the top section to the shaft. Pop that out, and...the missus stopped me from disassembling further. lol

Watch out for the Jesus pins and springs that might lurk inside!

As in "Oh Jesus! There goes another one!"
This looks like it should apply alright to a manual shifter... I'll be finding out soon enough any how!
Does anyone have these same instructions on a 2009?

Trying to get to the sync amp.

Thx!

Hope this helps!
Perfect. Thank you!
I hope someone can help...

The indicator light in the center console shift assembly just went out on my 06 Escape. I removed the top piece & shift knob to take a look at the bulb for replacement but couldn't figure out how to get to it. The bulb was too tight to rotate & disconnect from the top & I don't know how to get underneath the interior panel. In the process I accidentally unplugged my O/D wire from inside?! The wiring isn't torn... just looks disconnected. It's still attached to the shift knob but I don't know where it plugs back into... ??

The dealer over the phone couldn't tell me a replacement bulb number, and said that it would need a whole new shift assembly. Is that true for just a burnt bulb? Everything else works fine (except my O/D unplugging issue).

I'd really appreciate any advice before resorting to taking it in!

How difficult was it to remove all the cover?
Might do this to clean out the hard to reach grimmy spots. DAMN CHEAP SONIC SODA CUPS!
