You should already have one. Look at the lower grille opening (where the three small openings are). Directly behind it, you should see a small radiator with an input and output hose on the driver's side. The height of that radiator should be roughly the same as the lower grille openings.

The "axillary" transmission cooler you are referring to only comes with the V6 and Trailer Towing Package.

Shop online (eBay), sometimes you can find a genuine Ford cooler for not much money. They are easy to install. Any good auto parts store should ATF hose, but you can probably use high pressure fuel hose in a pinch.

Hello the oldwizard1. :) :welcome: I have an 06 XLT escape four cylinder. My car does not, have the automatic trans oil cooler. My service tech checked it out, and on the lower portion of my radiator, is the cooler for the power steering fluid.

I originally thought it was part of my air-conditioner system. Just shows that i would be hopeless as a mechanic. :)

Did they change to that in '05 or something? My '03 does not have the towing package and it has the cooler. It is definitely not a power steering cooler, either, because I have changed my transmission fluid through those lines and that is where I installed my transmission fluid filter. I don't think I have ever seen an Escape without the transmission fluid cooler.

You would have to check. I took a look through the Pictures forum, and as far as I can tell, only the hybrids do not come with an auxiliary transmission cooler.
