ELECTRIC MOTOR TEMPERATURE INDICATOR LAMP
ON - POSSIBLE DTCS P0A2F, P0A3B, P0A3C, P0A3E,
P0A7C

FORD:
2005 Escape Hybrid

ISSUE
Some 2005 Escape Hybrid vehicles built between 8/2/2004 and 1/21/2005 may exhibit a red Electric Motor Temperature lamp on, and/or diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0A2F, P0A3B, P0A3C, P0A3E, P0A7C. The vehicle may also exhibit a loss of performance. This may be due to the motor electronics coolant pump (MECP) being inoperative.

ACTION
It may be necessary to replace the MECP. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Turn the ignition to the ON position to actuate the MECP and observe the transaxle cooling system degas bottle for coolant flow.
a. If no coolant flow is observed, check Connector C1466 at the MECP for proper connection. Reconnect if necessary, clear codes and check to see if coolant flow is restored.
(1) If coolant flow is restored return the vehicle to the customer.
(2) If coolant flow is not restored, proceed to Step 1b.
b. If no coolant flow is observed and Connector C1466 is properly connected, check battery junction box (BJB), Fuse 2 (bA). If the fuse is open, replace it and check the system for flow. If the pump is noisy and/or there is no flow replace the MECP.

Refer to the Escape Hybrid Workshop Manual Section 307-02B as needed.
