Not sure why this info is so tough to find!

My son has a 2005 Ford Escape with the MACH 300 radio; it has the SAT button; when you push SAT, the display says "no service" or something similar; we bought the vehicle used.

QUESTION: If it has the SAT button, are all components there and we just need to setup a subscription or do other parts needed to be added?

QUESTION: If the components are not there, are there any after market modules, etc. which could be connected to get SIRIUS through the MACH 300?

Hello,
There were some options available for the escape that were compatible with that stereo, Satellite Radio, and an auxilliary input (iPod, Zune, MP3 players... etc)

The factory Satellite radio connected to the back of the stereo and was tucked away into the vehicles interior (out of sight)

If you press the SAT or AUX button with no Satellite Radio connected, it will say what you are seeing on the display.

If you want Satellite Radio, you have to purchase the module from Ford and pay for a subscription. I'm sure there are some aftermarket Satellite radios out there that will connect with you son's stereo, but the Ford unit is designed to work seamlessly with your son's radio with no extra controllers or units to mount to the windshield or dashboard.

I hope this answers your question.

Take Care.
Don

i have an 05 escape with the mach 300 cd6 radio with the sat button and cd/aux button. what is the easiest way to connect a mp3 palyer? are there inputs on the back of the radio that use the cd/aux button? also, what is the box near my rearview mirror? does that have something to do with the sat radio feature? i dont see myself subscribing to sat radio, but im tired of dealing with cd's. i have 35 gig of music on my computer and NEED to somehow listen to it in my escape.

Hey man, I thought I replied to this.... But it's not showing up.

The PIE works great, but there are some isolated incidents of alternator noise. (just install a ground loop isolator).

I'm a little fuzzy on that one. I know the Audiophile plays mp3 disks. But I'm not sure if the Mach does. The best way to find out is to try to play one. It couldn't hurt, but I have found that audio quality is less than great with mp3 disks. You will fit a whole heck of alot of songs on 1 disk, but it just doesn't sound as good an a regular disk.
