Hi!
I am a new user and was hoping someone might be able to help me. I have a 2007 Ford Escape, XLT with the factory Audiphile system.
I have been researching the posts here and saw a couple related topics, but am not sure my situation fits.

I purchased an Axxess Metra (AIP-FDCAN01-ID ) auxillary input addon in order to play my iPhone through the radio.

I need to tap into the power and ground in order to power the modulator (?). What are the pin outs for this radio and can I just go to Radio Shack and buy a couple of splice connectors and tap into the existing harness? Below is the description of the item.

Thanks for all of your help!

Scott,

Welcome to the board - link below should help in terms of wiring. I've not heard of anyone using this solution, but many people have asked how to add-on to the factory headunit. Keep us updated on how your install goes! Everyone likes pictures so don't be shy.

Sorry, it took a while to get back on! I appreciate the link. I ended up getting the unit installed but even though it was supposed to be compatible with the '07 Escape, the instructions stated differently. After installing it, I couldn't get the AUX to come on at all. Rather than really mess something up I uninstalled it and went back to the old way.
I talked to a retail stereo store here in St. Louis and they told me that the 2007 Radios are very limited in what you can do to add an iPhone or iPod on. They suggested that I go with a new head unit all together that incorporates bluetooth and the iPod option. That is around a $300.00 solution, but would probably work out well. Even if I could get the Axxess deal to work, it would be a pain to locate songs, etc. because they wouldn't scroll correctly on the current head unit.

Thanks again for a great forum!

Thanks for the update - seems to be the consensus I would have gathered. I initially looked into trying to get away with the factory stereo mod, but I did the upgrade to a DVD/NAV and haven't looked back.
