It's a pre-emptive strike.

When someone comes on here asking "How do I remove the centre console on my '08?" They'll most likely get a link to this thread.

it's better to do these things when you've got the time, rather than when someone needs a quick reply.

Plus JPs just a helpful chap......Or bored.....I'm not sure which..........
Cool beans in any case... :thumb:
jpark, I couldn't find the thread but is the wiring for the 110v power plug already underneath the console...? I am looking at this right now (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT) and it looks really tempting (and the other pieces are all available on eBay too)... but it would be pointless if there wasn't any wiring back there. Can it be done? LMK!

Does this work for the 2011?
You bet it will.
I'll change the title to reflect that.
Trim ring around the gear shift on my brand new Escape Ltd. was scratched at dealership today while being serviced, and I'd rather replace the piece myself than take it back to the dealer. Is a specialty tool required to remove the trim ring, or does it simply pop in/out of the console? Seems like a pretty tight fit and I don't want to force it.

It just pops out. Just wrap a small flathead screwdriver with tape and stick it under the edge of the ring.
This is me taking mine out...
