FRONT WINDOW SQUEAK
FORD:
2008 Escape Hybrid, Escape
MERCURY:
2008 Mariner Hybrid, Mariner
ISSUE
Some 2008 Escape and Mariner vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise primarily when the front windows are rolled down. This may be the result of a tolerance stack up which causes the window contact pressure with the belt molding to be excessive.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition by removing the secondary felt contact strip of the belt molding.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove window belt molding from vehicle - identify secondary glass felt strip at the inside bottom of the belt moulding. (Figure 1)

2. Using a knife or razor, start a cut at one end of the base of the secondary strip. (Figure 2)

3. Starting at the end just cut, pull the secondary strip completely off the belt molding. (Figure 3)

4. Be sure to completely remove all of the secondary felt lip. (Figure 4 and 5)

5. Reinstall outer belt molding, and verify that window squeak has been eliminated.
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
