Hi, new (used, I guess) Escape owner here. Just got it off a lot today.

Went to plug in my ipod to the aux jack, and it is not recognizing it. The message "no aux" comes up on the lcd display. I did all the steps that the manual said to do, even tried 3 different cords.

Is this a common problem? I searched for it, but couldn't find anything.

Do I just most likely need a new jack? Any info would be appreciated.

Did you get it off a Ford dealerships lot? If so, they should have ensured that everything worked, or informed you that something doesn't. If you bought it elsewhere, well, good luck. Otherwise, I am no help. We have an 08, but no iphone and we never plugged anything into the jack.

You have the 3.5mm jack right. On the back of the jack the plug could have disconneted from , of course, the back of the jack.

Yes, I popped off the dash, and unplugged and replugged the jack, to no avail. Bringing the car to my mechanic today to check out everything, i'll mention it.

Let us know, if no luck then we will have to check the pin out from jack to the back of the stereo.

Does your Escape have Sync? If it does there's a fuse in the centre console, by the passenger's left foot, that powers the Sync module. Can't remember which one, but check the manual. Pull that fuse, wait a min or two, then put it back in. See if that helps. I've had my USB port flake out twice on me now, this solves the problem. For some reason Sync and my/my wife's iPhone doesn't get along after a while and it decides to ignore anything plugged in. The aux line in still works, though. Worth a shot if Sync's being temperamental.

No, it doesn't have sync. Good call with the fuses though, I'll look today and hopefully get lucky.

I almost said the same thing. If I remove the SYNC fuse, Line In won't even work. I just get 'NO AUX.'

SYNC's fuse is a 15 amp fuse, 3rd one on the bottom row IIRC. I don't see a separate line-in fuse, but if pulling/changing the SYNC fuse doesn't work, there are some other radio-related fuses to try in the manual.

Chances are, that it is not the cable. In any case it wouldnt hurt to check.
