Does the 2008 Mercury Mariner have an cabin air filter? If so, is it located at the same place as the Escape? I did a search of the forums but could only find topics to the Escape. Also did a search for cabin air filters and only found ones for the hybrid models. Only Ebay sold them for the "2005-2008 Mercury Mariner". I wanted to check here first before I bought one.

Thanks

I won't commit 100% only 99.5% that Escapes & Mariners are nearly identical, only cosmetic differences (and obviosly gas & hybrid componets for those models) But the cabin air filter for our 08's should be under the hood, infront of the passanger seat. Follow the same instructions as the Escape. The 08's shape is different from previous models, so an ebay claiming 05-08 won't fit. 07 might be the same, not sure. there is a good thread on green hybrid (http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f26/air-oil-filter-thread-15380/) and I found a Fram carbon filter on amazon, it was like $90! Standard paper filter is much cheaper, about $30.

I have decided not to get one for now (2.75 yrs old) as we're only in the car a few min at a time

Squishy had a great idea, or at least I think it was he...

buy one for a home hvac and cut it up to the correct size of your opening. You could make several little Mariner air filters out of one house filter that you can buy for $5-6. Maybe do a search and you'll find the thread with the info in it.

However, you might also want to read this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2887

Purolator C25685 is the correct one. My local Advance Auto had it in stock (~$17). It's much cheaper than OEM from dealer. Wix (and others) may make one by now. Try their websites, and cross-reference.

08HybridOK is correct. Some 07s had this style/shape. Earlier years had a rectangular one.
