2.5L WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - ROUGH
IDLE IN DRIVE - COLD ENGINE

FORD:
2009 Escape

MERCURY:
2009 Mariner

ISSUE
Some 2009 Escape and Mariner vehicles built before 3/5/2009 equipped with 2.5 liter engine and 6 speed automatic transmission may exhibit a rough idle. Concern typically occurs when the engine is cold, under load (such as A/C on) and in drive. All ignition and fuel system testing pass and there are no DTCs.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
  1. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 59.8 and higher or 60.01 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

  2. Perform the powertrain mount neutralization procedure in the Workshop Manual, Section 303-00.[/*]

Have you noticed a difference so far?
Too soon to tell since problem was intermittent. I still feel various degrees of vibration when stopped at a red light, but so far not as harsh as before.
