I have a 2010 Escape XLT with the Sirus Sat radio (not the SYNC system). i recently moved to germany from the states with the military. is there any way to change the programming in my stereo to the European radio station frequency spacing from the USA Frequency spacing. basically right now i get 25% of the available radio stations in Germany. really i just want the Armed forces network on 100.2 out here with some english speaking people on it. thank you in advance for any help

Two possibilities, with my lack of knowledge about this stuff:

1) the dealership could re-program your radio; or,

2) get an iPod, use the radio feature on it... and then get a cable to use the Line In feature. :D

The radios are only set up for Canadian and US freq's increments.

With that said and understood is there not a specific module or chip in ther radio electronics that if changed will allow for different incremental leaps? That is an electronics ignorant asking.

There is no module or chip that you can easily change to get European stations. The frequency 'generator' built into the radio to tune its tuner to the proper frequency to 'grab' the signal is likely built into the circuitry. It just doesn't have the proper 'numbers' to put into the frequency divider to generate the correct range of frequencies.
You would be better off either getting a satellite radio attachment or a European model radio than trying to modify the factory installed radio.
I don't know if there is a standalone tuner that can receive European and then 'broadcast' on an unused FM or AM frequency that your current radio can receive. XM and Sirius do have such gizmos for their satellite offerings.

Logrus, I am not sure of things where you live, but the FM frequencies assigned in western Europe differ from those used in the USA. The radios installed are fixed in their ability to tune frequencies to match where they are sold. If you could re-program the memory the microcomputer inside uses to generate and display frequencies, you might be able to adjust it to your locale. I personally don't think it is a good use of my time. I would do one of two things: 1)look for a converter as noted above, or 2)look in a scrapped vehicle location {boneyard or junkyard in US} for a used radio that would receive local frequencies. or 3) look for an aftermarket double DIN radio to use locally. Re-engineering the audio system is not an easy task.

Hi

I have the same problem, I am using 2011 Ford Escape xlt 2.4 and my radio is with odd numbers us. I clearly understand from pictures that you succeeded but I did not understand how you did it.

Could you kindly tell me how you did it? What parts you got ?

Thank you very much

Regards

Hi Logrus,

thank you very much!!
It worked very easily using that program, STNterm.
Only thing to be aware of is to set the baudrate to 500000.(Took me some time to find this out)
The rest is just your list:

atl1
atspb
atsh727
3b02 0001

And presto!
I lost the RDS, but that seems to be normal.
