Sorry this isn't a "mod" question, but hopefully the audio gurus here will be able to answer this stock audio system questions.

At Mercury's website they describe the Premium Sound upgrade as having 320 watts maximum output and seven speakers, including one subwoofer. However, their description of the Navigation System doesn't include any audio information.

Does the Navigation System option have the same audio specs (320 watts and 7 speakers including subwoofer) as the Premium Sound? I'm just wanting to know if I'd lose any audio quality by getting the Nav instead of the Premium sound package.

I'm going to say yes, they are the same. The only reason I say that is that none of these vehicles have any main speaker amp according to the ones I've worked on. Just that pidly sub amp.

320W would be...optimistic. I would say its about 12W per channel + 40 or to the sub, relatively clean. And 7 speakers is funny too, unless they installed some tweeters in new places on the newer models. The older models put tweeters in the door sill panels, but the newer ones made do with a coaxial speaker in the door with a tweeter in front of the woofer.

IMO, install your own nav and sound system, get more for less. Its what I'm good at helping you with. what's the price diff?
