25k km on the truck now. Goes into the shop about once a month. When the truck is cold (even if its sat warming up for a few mins but not 'normal operating temp') the shift from 2 to 3 is sometimes unstable, sometimes violent - if i'm heavier on the throttle its shift is loud and shifts so hard i might loose control if its slippery - the rear end tried to swing out a bit when that has happened. Sometimes it hunts 2-3-2-3-2-3 which makes it surge and lag surge and lag. No codes, ford cant reproduce as it doesnt do it all the time, others in the truck ask WTF was that.

As for sync, it keeps disabling either/both of the usb port and / or the aux in. When that happens, pressing AUX on the radio control turns on blue tooth audio. Repeatedly pressing the media button on the steering wheel only goes through the radio options including sat radio.

Seriously considering ripping the radio out (including sync) and putting my old pioneer with bluetooth back in until the maintenance agreement I bought with the truck (and the extended warranty) run out, then trade it out for something more reliable.

Ford told me "thats unheard of, we usually sell them and never see them again" yet they can't seem to get this lemon fixed.

I've done no mods, every service has been done by the dealer I bought the truck from. Oh yeah. I bought the remote starter/alarm system from ford and had them install it. It would false alarm at all hours, even during the day when i was 20 feet from the truck. They couldnt find any problem with that either, had to 'downgrade' to just the remote starter.

Pretty unhappy with it.

Sounds like your dealer doesn't really know what they're doing. I would see if you could find another one nearby.

Just what slavrenz said.
Until then drive it as smooth as possible until it really reaches a good operating temperature.
Bear in mind that transmissions take much longer to warm up than the engines do.In very cold temperatures transmissions need a heck of a time to operate normally.
I could be more helpful if I knew what transmission you have.

I have tried 2 dealers with mine - the selling dealer and another local one. Not happy with either of them. I have always had great luck with dealer service - Honda, VW, Mercedes, all great. I've come to understand why so many domestic car owners don't stick with their dealers for service.

However, there is another one in the town I live in that is supposed to be quite good - they are considerably busier than either my selling dealer and the one I have used for "service" since the first "service" at the selling store. I do prefer using the dealer as they are - at least in theory - better trained and more familiar with the intricacies of the car. Sure, anyone can do brakes and exhaust - but those mystery vibrations and electronic gremlins are often better left to someone who may have seen it before....not always....given the 2 Ford dealers I have used....but typically.

Look for a BLUE OVAL CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP, go to the service manager and talk to them. Then start making phone calls or write letters about this "lemon issue" (tranny issue) to FORD. Yeah cold is an issue but not enough for all the nonsense. I have lived in COLD COLD dry and COLD COLD wet places, both have never posed an issue for a tranny in my Ford and Chevy vehicles, maybe for a start up but thats it. The E has an electronic tranny and this is new edition of trannies that dont have kinks worked out. If its looking for a gear and you hear no sounds from the tranny them I will have to say electronic issue.

CanadianWolf, i forgot to ask if you know the build date of your car or at least when have you bought it...

On other forums they say that 6f35 tranny BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/26/2010 had that kind of problem almost exactly as stated in this blue oval forum thread

http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/38806-2010-fusion-transmission-issues/
and look specifically on post 8 that reproduce almost exactly the same issues! so you are NOT the only one and i DOUBT that Ford will leave you like that.

If your truck been built before that date, have your tranny reflashed and tested (pressure test)
(tsb on it) and if doesn't pass test, they have to rebuild your tranny.

I have noticed my transmission acting strange as well (2010 Limited 6cyl 4WD). I am typically light on the gas pedal and the transmission seems to be shifting at higher and higher RPMs. I have also noticed it searching for a gear almost feeling as if the tranny is slipping. I don't buy into the transmission needing to be warmed up. It happens when it is cold and when it has been operating for extended periods. Not impressed with the 6 speed auto in my Escape. I'll check my build date and possibly have them re-flash the tranny on my next service.

The 10B15 Satisfaction Recall of April last year was a possible three step job depending if you had -/+7K on your vehicle. Less than 7K, a reflash, over 7K, a reflash and load test, if that failed , a few clutches were rebuilt.

There has been at least one other TSB about shifting issues. If the vehicle is included in the 10B15 recall, it'll show up under VIN.

This has been what mine has been doing since day one back in July 2009. I've also taken it to 2 dealerships, both of which thought/think I am crazy. Mine is doing the same exact thing. What I think is funny is, the tranny in this was codeveloped between chevrolet and ford. Yet, if you drive a new chevy Malibu that has a 6 speed as well, it feels and shifts completely different when compared to the ford. Personally, I think that Chevy got the computer programming down right for the tranny and ford has yet to get it right/figure it out. I complained for months to ford, the dealerships, etc with no luck. I finally gave up. Each tranny computer flash they issue fixes something very minimally, but they still don't have it right. Too bad you couldn't take they chevy computer code and flash it to the mariner/escape - I bet the results, if possible, would be immediately noticed - it shifts so smoothly. The only thing ford tells me that everything I have complained about it normal - but yet, it was all supposedly addressed in the recall over the summer - but that too did not fully correct it.

Check your trans fluid. My car wasn't as bad as yours, but I wasn't happy with the 2-3 shift until they topped off the fluid. Now, it's a thing of beauty.

Everything said by the others still goes, though.

i've checked my trans fluid and there is missing about 2/3 quarter. I know that they put low trans fluid because of flat towing problems but since i dont flat tow my Escape, i will require that they top it off. My 2011 has now 1000 miles

My wife's 2010 truck, had a code failure, and we hardly noticed it. Second gear valve was replaced along with clutch. We had gone in to have them check the "hoot" noise which was caused by the small tranny chain. They fixed both. I read the Blueoval posts about the 6 speed tranny problems, and I recommend anyone with those model trannys to have the code checked. That is the least Ford could do (give owners a report of the code readout) just before warranty is over. The repair was done in October 2010. Have since driven to Florida and back in straight time and did not have any issues. BTW, the V6 motor sounds great. Love the way it works with the 6 speed tranny.
