Not sure why Ford is trying so hard to make the next generation of trucks look so much less truck like.
The styling reminds me a little of the Land Rover LR2 only a little bigger.
Not sure if the colour (or lack of) helps but it's not a vehicle I would look twice at.

Looks like a Land Rover and a 2011 Ford Edge had a baby (with a sprinkle of Taurus X for good measure). It's not nearly as bad as I feared it would be based on all the spy photos I saw. The blacked out 'A' pillar is odd but overall I think it looks pretty good...

It's always interesting to see how the final product looks compared to the original concept vehicle:

Really a spin off of the Edge, which spun off the Five Hundred, which came to Ford by way of the Volvo 60 series...

So, yes, it's a car/crossover. Not a true truck like all those Explorers that came before it. Most Explorer are purchased based on the wife's decision. The original truck based Explorer was aimed at males with things to do outdoors. Then, most of them wound up in the wife's hands doing kiddie duty. Hence, every model change since has softened the thing a little here, and a little there... ;)

I like it. I do see a mix of Land Rover in there too. I really like the new windshield angle.
I like it. Wasn't one of the designers or something with Land Rover previously?

Probably. I think Ian Callum (sic?), came from across the pond. I don't know if he had anything to do with the Explorer project though. It does have hill descent, right? That was a Land Rover feature, maybe Ford took that with them when they sold Land Rover...

I prefer the look of the Escape or the Expedition. They still look like trucks.

I honestly like that Explorer!
Its a shame the real trucks are disappearing, however most people who buy this type of vehicle won't take them off road, just need them for the space...

We might consider that one or the Traverse in a near future...we need the 7 seats!

FWD Explorer? Thumbs down.
I want RWD so badly, and I miss RWD so very much that I cannot support a vehicle changing to FWD.
