Autoblog mentioned the Auto Show tear down and I think they said the engine specs were 364 hp (instead of 365) and 420 ft-lb (matches), despite all the sand and dirt it ate in the Baja 1000. And, aside from normal grime collected after that much mileage, and the fact it only produced one less horsey-power... well, it's proven itself to me.

I wonder if that would fit in the Escape? A 365hp/420ft-lb Escape.

I can't wait to see the tear down video. I've been waiting weeks for it.

I've seen pics with the teardown and the engine's internals looks very good.
The FORD techs said that because the internals look so good they will reassemble the engine and put it back to work.
I will try to get some of the pics.

It seems like a strange decision to use the 3.5L for the EcoBoost and not the 3.7L, unless they had plans on going to the 3.7L. Could be stuff relating to engine design too, or stuff I'm not completely aware of. With all the extra power they got out of the 3.5L, you'd think an EcoBoosted-3.7L would blow everything else out of the water.

Either way, if the 3.0L (or maybe I should just say 'when') in my Escape cuts out down the road and the body's still in decent shape... I'm going to give it a new heart if I can, and you won't have to guess what engines are on the short list.

Ecoscape!

I'd love to see this project happen, honestly. I'd do it in a heartbeat, although, I'm otherwise relatively content with the current engine at this point in time. Five vehicles in the past decade with that as the heart of the powertrain and not a single one had an engine-related issue.

What about Ken Block's super-boosted 2.0L that chucks (and I use that work intentionally) out 850hp and 660ft-lb?? Granted, with a legal exhaust install, it's probably more like 450...
