Hey everyone, I have a 2012 Ford Escape Utility 4D Limited 2WD (V6) and today I noticed a sound coming from what sounds like the water pump. But to be honest, I'm not very mechanically inclined when it comes to vehicles, so I'm not certain. I came here to ask, hoping someone else might know for sure. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Welcome to the city, boom
It could be the water pump, it could be the idler pulley. The easiest way to check is to remove the serpentine belt, or loosen the tensioner… Then spin the pulleys by hand, you will feel the roughness in it, the one that is failing.
The idler pulley is easy to change with handtools, the water pump pulley will require draining the antifreeze… You can, YouTube how to do what you need to do. But you will have to catch the waist fluids.
