My car is a the dealership for the fifth time, still under warranty. The alarm usually goes off after two hours after I park the car, sometimes sooner. It honks usually five tives every 2 or 3 minutes. Last Sunday the car started on its own as if I had pressed a remote button so I uninstalled Fordpass just in case something was running in the background.
Then a few minutes later the alarm went off without stopping until I went inside the car, pressed the start button twice to turn it on then off.
So far the dealership connected it to the computer and there are errors in the code but they don't know where exactly, it makes me wonder how many will have the same issue since mine was ok for the past nine months.
The oddest thing is this car should not even be equipped with an alarm system. They tried to reprogram the computer, then they replaced a controler for the alarm and nothing seems to solve the issue. It may just be haunted.

Is it the perimeter alarm being triggered, or is it the panic alarm from the remote? Either one should be stopped with pressing the alarm button on the remote.

Did you also go into SYNC/FordPass in the vehicle and reset it, so that no FordPass apps have access?

Only the Titanium has the factory installed perimeter alarm, but the dealers are pretty hard core in getting people to get their dealer installed one installed...they used scare tactics on my wife and we paid $300 for a $50 alarm.

The owners manual describes all sorts of alarms/anti thefts systems possible. I have never heard of these installed on an Escape, but I haven't looked at them since 2019, so it might actually be there, and new? But if you don't have a Titanium and a perimeter alarm, then maybe none of the other sensor alarms either?

Anti-theft alarm including:
  • Perimeter alarm (a door, liftgate, or hood is opened without unlocking with a coded key or remote)
  • interior sensor sending movement inside the vehicle
  • inclination sensors (someone is jacking it up or pulling it up on a flatbed)
  • battery backup alarm (own battery and horn sounds if battery is disconnected or the backup battery is disconnected)
And that you can go into Settings>Vehicle Settings>Alarm System and set the level of alarm, including all sensors or just perimeter sensing.

The FordPass system has been uninstalled and there are no alarm system installed on this car it is a base PHEV , so no settings. Also both keys have been reprogrammed to eliminate the chances they could trigger the alarm. Then there is that issue where the car started on its own as if I used the remote on FordPass. This is what worries me the most since I often leave it in the garage, if the gas engine starts up as it often does even in electric mode it could send carbon monoxide all over the house. From what I could tell all the alarm hardware is on the car but no software, like you said probably to be able to sell the upgrade.

Very weird, since for your SE(?) unless you have the cold weather package, it doesn't have remote start except through FordPass, and there is no way to trigger an alarm with FordPass. You can turn off remote start in the settings.

Resetting FordPass in the vehicle would eliminate all connected apps. If you bought it new, then less an issue, but my parents bought a brand new 2020 Explorer and it had a salesmans phone connected to it.

I don't want to go with haunted, or glitch, or someone messing with you, but I would turn off remote start.

The dealership already tried to reset the FordPass but it didn't change anything. It is connected to the computer now and they are getting a lot of weird errors in the codes.
This will probably only be solved by the computer techs at Ford's head office. I have not had it for a year yet and I am glad it is still under warranty but in two years the warranty will be expired so all this research would probably be financed by my own pocket. I used to love this vehicle because I could plug it in and drive around without having to pay for gas or even hear any engine noise but now I can't wait to get rid of it.

Now after the seventh time at the dealership the issue persists but now it starts on its own. The first times it ran on electric but last Saturday the gas engine started in the garage on its own. If this happened at night the house would have filled up with carbon monoxyde. The car was locked in the garage and it was ready to go as if I was inside with the key.
This car is bad news!

That is a bummer you got a ghost in the machine… I would honestly be buying a carbon monoxide detector at your local hardware store for $10, and installing that ASAP. It could save your life my friend.

I agree but the detector should be there in case something happens, in the case of Christine here I know it WILL startup sooner than later. The dealership will have another crack at it for the 8 th time!
I am trying to get Ford to take it back otherwise the next buyer will end up with the same issues when I exchange it for my next car in December. This car is not only annoying but very dangerous, I have recorded enough to prove it.
