We recently took a driving vacation, here are a fews pictures.

Can you see the Escape past the sexy wheels? I was trying to get the picture of the tricked out Lotus and ended up catching an Escape coming the other way too. Serendipity? In the desert south of Las Vegas.

The Snake river just east of Wyoming.

The antler arch in Jackson Hole Wyoming.

Carhenge near Alliance Nebraska.

Went to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. (Thanks Jeff M [see his sig] for the inspiration on this picture. )

LOVE CARLSBAD CAVERNS!!!!! Grew up going there about every other year. When did you go?

We went a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome. We went down the elevator (750 feet down! I had no idea) and did the big room. I went back the next day by myself and did the lower cave. THAT was fun... helmet with the miners light, gloves, small rope rappel, ladders, right there up close with the cave. Fun stuff.

The best we got was around 28mpg the worst was around 20mpg. We seemed to get the best gas mileage on the state and county highways were max speed was at 55 or 60mph. The worst was on the interstates where max speeds were 75 sometimes 80mph. Kinda like pushing a brick wall down the road I suppose.

Every time I see the words: "Grand Tetons", I wonder: Are there lesser Tetons? Normal Tetons? Average Tetons? Just where are they?

Very nice. Too bad that pesky Lotus got in the way of the Escape
Tetons shot very impressive and moody, but Snake river looks postcard perfect.

The caverns sound like a great time. We went to some caverns in Kentucky when I was a kid. Lots of fun. We really want to go to Luray Caverns in Virginia. I hear that they are awesome.

Best gas mileage: ----- 27.8 mpg and the next tank was 27.2. This was driving through Wyoming.
Worst gas mileage: --- 20.6 mpg, this was tootling around Denver metro for a few days.

Un-recorded Tucson (got lazy towards the of the trip I suppose) > Yuma > San Diego.
Trip average was 24.5 mpg

Highest per gallon price was San Diego of course, Shell $3.15
Lowest: drum roll ........... Tuscon Circle K, $2.11
