Hello, all.

I just bought a completely overhauled 2001 Escape XLT because I could no longer afford to maintain a later model Toyota Harrier. I needed something less expensive yet still capable in foul weather and hauling around outdoor gear, and the Escape is so far working out much better than I had first expected.

Since I am a long-time amateur photographer, I might end up taking photographs of this vehicle more than I actually drive it -- despite being 9 years old, it's nearly spotless inside and out. The old Escapes have less of the rounded lines of later models, making them appear very much the capable steeds they are.

The aftermarket rims and other optional accessories came with the vehicle. I added a Mitsubishi hard-disk GPS navigation system/TV/stereo head unit.

For some reason this car has both the "ESCAPE" and "MAVERICK" emblems. I'm not sure whether the previous owner added the Maverick emblem, or it was standard on this model year (made in Japan).

My next project is insulation and soundproofing!

Welcome! Paint looks very shiny for the age.
It was very lovingly maintained by the previous (sole) owner -- it is nearly spotless inside and out. There are only 36,000km (22,360 mi) on the odometer, which is remarkable for a vehicle of this age. The national chain used car dealer outsources to a professional cleaning service for the interior cleaning, so it's like someone went through a time portal and took this rig off the showroom floor!

I'll post more close-ups when I get a chance. The engine and its compartment is pristine.

Now them are some mudflaps!
Aren't they though? And the door visors are large enough that when I finally get her out on the expressway I might become airborne.

My wifes' '01 has 157,000 miles on it & still going strong. You've got a lot of years left on that bad boy if it only has 22,000! Our Ford dealer says they have several customers past 200,000 miles and one customer past the 300,000 mark! :thumb:

The previous owner was fussy with it.
I'm probably not going to be as fussy, seeing as I don't have a garage to keep it in nor a roof under which to park it. So it's not going to stay pristine for long.

And, I'm likely going to drive this one until it goes to see Henry Ford himself, so I don't have to worry about keeping it looking good for the next buyer. There likely won't be a next buyer.
