I recently had my aftermarket Sirius XM radio stolen out of my 2009 XLS and I’m finally taking time to see if I can just install it into my stock radio. When I press the Sirius button on my radio, it just says “No Sat Radio”. The part number I found on my radio is: 9L8T 19C 108 AB. What steps do I need to take to get it onto the stock radio?

Starting in mid 2009, the Sirius module was integrated into the ACM (head unit). So in addition to adding an antenna, all you need is to get a radio from a 2009-2012 Escape with Sirius built in. It is easy to tell if a particular radio has it because there will be an extra connector on the back for the satellite antenna. See below:

This is the radio in question: 10-12 Ford Escape Radio Stereo CD Player Receiver Climate Control 9L8T19C157CE | eBay

Note that these will only work for a few more years as SiriusXM is planning to discontinue the original pre-merger 'Sirius' signal/platform: SiriusXM CEO strongly hints Sirius platform could shut down by mid-decade

It seems like sirius authorizes by individual unit, the times I have done it I had to call them and they sent a signal to the radio which activated it.

talk to Sirius, they should be able to walk you through it

like all companies that have been ripped off by sharing accounts, they have to make sure that your old head unit is dead, and you're not installing your OE into your significant others mother's car

The OP had an aftermarket radio stolen. If he was paying to subscribe to SiriusXM, he has likely already reported the unit stolen. If he has a lifetime subscription, it could be transferred to a factory radio. In either case the stolen unit would have the Sirius service deactivated if someone attempted to use it.

Except his factory head unit doesn't have a Sirius receiver.
