What would I need to do this? I know in my Chevy HHR, there is a plug in the wheel to do this and the part is cheap..(although mine came with it..)
Is there a similar plug in the wheel of my 08 XLT? About how much is the part for this? I have another unrelated question regarding the Satellite radio feature.. Why can't you set the radio to display the channel/artist by default? Every time you change the station you need to press "TEXT" to set that mode... just curious..
And JPark, just want to complement your posts. They are very informative and I will be referring to them often!
Thanks!
Thanks! I'm glad to help!

First, if your Escape has the cruise controls on the left but no audio controls on the right, you'd need to buy another steering wheel and the audio control switches. The steering wheel is about $200, depending on the color. The service DVDs don't document whether the wiring is already installed, but you can verify that by looking at the 24-pin connector on the back of the head unit. If you see the
GRAY with YELLOW STRIPE wire at Pin 18 and the
BLUE with WHITE STRIPE wire at Pin 19, then you already have the wiring. If you don't have the wiring, you'll need to buy a different harness, and possibly a different clockspring.
I have the same complaint about the Sirius display on my Edge's nav unit, too. From what I've read in other forums, there's nothing that can be done about it. It's just the way that Pioneer designed the system. I don't switch Sirius channels that much, though, so I just live with it.

I'll get the part numbers for the steering wheels and switches this afternoon. I don't have the service DVD here. And I e-mailed Cablevision about what appears to be a DNS problem on their end.
