I saw them when they opened for Van Halen in '91. I was absolutely amazed by Layne's voice. The new record sounds good but I haven't purchased it yet. They are playing in NYC in March. I'll have to see if anyone wants to go...
Really? I've seen a few YouTube videos and a concert on TV... I don't think William DuVall is bad but he doesn't have nearly the consistent power and range Layne did in live shows. I actually heard that Jerry Cantrell actually did the majority of the vocals on the new album. I was surprised at how much the vocals sounded like the old records but then realized something was missing on the songs I heard. The vocals were much more monotone and less dynamic than on the older records. I'm not saying it's bad just a little different. I haven't really paid much attention to the lyrics yet. I do plan on getting the full album soon. It will be interesting to hear the whole thing. My cousin is a big fan too. He loves the new album. I hope I do too.megascape said:The new singer is so good.
