Hello,

Has anyone run a power cable from the car battery to the cabin? I'm trying to install a small subwoofer amp under the passenger seat and cannot spot an existing grommet to utilize. Thinking about taking it to my friends garage and putting it on a lift to see if I can an easier entry point from the bottom.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

There is a rubber gromet that goes through the firewall on the drivers side. Look below and to the right of the brake master cylinder.

Here is mine. Follow the ribbed loom. That gromet pops off easy and goes right into the cabin. Big enough for any sized power run.

Thanks. Unfortunately with the hybrid models there is a fusebox directly over it, limiting my access.

Could you take a photo from the inside of the vehicle of where it comes in? Maybe it'll be easier to run from the inside to the engine compartment.

Thx!

I would imagine Ford uses the same piece on the firewall and the Hybrid should have the same gromet/hole in the same location. If you look inside of the vehicle, get down in the drivers side foot area and look up, you should be able to see a round plastic piece. Hard to describe so I will try to get a pic of mine. The plastic piece pops open and behind it should be some white insulation material. The rubber gromet on the engine side comes off easily.

Grab a flashlight and look around in there. I'll try to get a pic tonight...

I took a picture from underneath the dash in the footwell. You should be able to see the same black plastic piece. In mine I removed the square-ish piece to reveal the rubber grommet that plugs into the firewall (from the engine side).

As you can see you have plenty of room for power. Mine is a 4 gauge + a power supply for my fuse box in the rear. Both wires fit easily.

I have run an amp power cable thru this hole in my 2005 Hybrid. It is impossible to see from the engine compartment. I ran a "fish wire" from the cabin area into the engine compartment, tied the amp power cable onto it and then pulled it into the cabin area. It took several attempts to do this.

Thanks! Actually where you ran your wire, is nearly impossible in a hybrid. There is a metal bracket over it.

Fortunately I was able to run it through the smaller round opening at the very left of your picture. It's the grommet for the hood release cable.
