I ran out and bought a new mask (nasal pillow)... it is BY FAR the most comfortable mask I have ever tried. It is all silicone. It is so soft and light you can hardly tell you are wearing one. I can't wait to try it out tonight.

The tech put the mask on me and turned on the air. She than pulled on the hose quite hard and it didn't dislodge the mask.

Yup, I have extreme severe sleep apnea. I used to wake up on average 197 times a hour. I also had to have nasal surgery. My nasal cavity was collapsed to about 2 mm opening on my left side, and completely closed on the right side of my nose.
I also use the air cushioned full face mask. My machine is the Escape II model, kind of cool being called a Escape huh?
I use this mask. Very comfortable as well.

Dude! DO IT!!!

Having CPAP is life altering (and life saving!)

When I went for my sleep study I was suffering from MAJOR depression, high blood pressure, irregular heart beat, and very poor job performance. I was also steadily putting on weight... All of which my doctor wanted to treat with meds.
My g/f wasn't getting any sleep because she would hear me stop breathing then gasp for air. It had her freaked out. She finally got me to go for a sleep study.

So I get the results of my study... within hours of having the study. That is pretty unusual. The doctor called me at home and said to "come in now"...

It turns out I was waking up 90 times an hour. I would stop breathing for up to 78 seconds at a time and my blood O2 levels were dropping to 67%. I was getting cardiac arythmias from it. He told me I needed a machine THAT NIGHT...

So I went and got my machine. The very next morning I felt like a new man! I had energy like I hadn't had in YEARS!

Within a month of having my CPAP ALL my other symptoms were GONE! (all without meds!)

I also started losing the weight I was putting on. When you are sleep deprived you will eat high calorie food for small bursts of energy just to keep moving.

Don't put it off... you won't regret it.

What he said! I also was fearing for my life because I was always falling a sleep while driving. I have lost 60 pounds so far as well.
With my new energy the wife has, ahem, taken a notice as well. Now I go to bed around 9 wake up at 4 or 5 and I feel great. My work started to suffer to. I was falling a sleep at meetings which is not a good thing!

Got a new CPAP Machine (actually an Automatic CPAP machine) and new mask today. Here is the new machine I got. It automatically changes the pressure needed based on sensing what you need. The doctor sets the minimum and maximum pressure settings. Kind of cool actually.

Here is an article on Automatic CPAP machines and how they operate.

I also got a new mask today. Ended up getting a ResMed Mirage FX mask. It is so light it doesn't feel like you aren't wearing anything.

Here is the link to the mask website.

Nice machine! I had my eye on that one but now think I'm leaning towards:

I like the heated hose and a couple of other features.

What I would LOVE to see come more mainstream is a built in alarm clock/radio. Behind my night stand is a single double outlet plug. Room for a lamp and alarm clock. Now I need a power bar for my CPAP. It seems like such a simple thing to do too...

I have now owned 5 of these.. (my dog ate 2)..

That is a nice machine as well. My new one is so quiet it is amazing.

I feel your pain about using an outlet strip. I have a surge supressor that converts a regular electric outlet to a 6 plug outlet. I have the CPAP in 1, iPhone charger in 1, lamp in one, and a cordless phone in 1.

I wonder if my insurance would pay for a new unit even though the one I have now is still running fine!

Weebee,

You might want to check with your insurance to see. I have had the best sleep I have had in a long time. I slept 6.7 hours last night which is a record for me in the short term. It is quieter than the machine it replaced.
