A twin turbo 4cylinder would be eaiser to fit into the existing chassis. Getting a 302 stuffed into the escape would require major redesign of the engine bay / transmission tunnel area to get it all to fit with the beefier parts.

I don't think SVT does much these days. They did the Raptor [F-150] but not so much the pocket rocket cars like they used to. Man I miss the Fox body mustang era.

Any SVT/SHO version would be nice. I'd settle with the new 3.7 Duratec V6 the Mustangs will be getting, 300hp is plenty of power for a small body SUV. A liitte touch of the Raptor styling would look pretty good too, nice nobby tires and that bold FORD grill work. :thumb:

I have been thinking, and reading all this input about power, chassis refinements, special operations of Ford building a one off Escape. Nobody so far has really put together something that is truly missing in the Escape's repetoire:

An SVT Raptor type Hybrid!

Just think about that for a minute. Sound wierd? Sorry, but nobody else is building one. I bet there would be a heck of a market for one though. Electric motors could do the crawling far better than gasoline engined Escapes with all the torque available. Still sound weird? I think it's the wave of the future. Don't flame me too badly. Just thinking outside the sandbox is all. :hi:

I like the idea of the 3.7DOHC. I'd love to see the new Taurus SHO engine dropped into one of these. There isn't a lot of call for SVT to build the smaller quicker cars anymore, agreed. And for a built up Escape.. If I had the money, I do honestly think I'd pay 50K to see all the Camaro boy's jaws drop after running a quarter mile and letting them see the *** end of my Escape. I like the idea because it'd be such a sleeper if they never advertised the hell out of it like they did the new SHO. I remember the old SHOs.. True sleepers. I remember when they didn't pronounce it as 'show' either.

He!! ya. Double up the HP/Tq with a drivetrain, suspension package to optimize that power would be totally awesome. :thumb: :yahoo:
Keep the outside badging very simple to maintain that sleeper effect.

Where do I sign.
