Hey guys, thanks for thinking about me   :worry:

Well, after all the severe weather warnings for this part of the world, I started my 4 mile journey to work at 5am..

The snow had indeed arrived, and was up to 8 inches deep, which resulted in the normall 15 minute journey taking 1 3/4 hours

This wa as a result of 5 jacknifed artic lorries, 3 car crashes, and at least 20 abandoned vehicles, plus the normal idiots who can't drive in snow, getting in the way.

When I finally got to work, jumped in the coach to go to Leeds city centre. it took me 3 hours to travel 2 miles to the nearest rounabout to turn the coach around, as the roads were just turning too dangerous, indeed one accident, involving a gritting lorry and a double decker bus, resulted in the bus being on its side  , I counted another 35 accidents involving cars that had either crashed into each other, or into walls / roadsigns etc.

This resulted in various road closures, school / factory closures, indeed the local McDonalds only had 2 members of staff running it today, when I called there for my (late) dinner.

The rest of the day was spent doing very important duties at work, creating the snowman,
and drinking copious amounts of coffee, until it was safer to return home, which I did at about 16:30, the journey back only took me 1/2 hour, as there was very little traffic, it was just a little bit more interesting avoiding abandoned / crashed vehicles still awaiting recovery.

Tomorrow, well, at the moment its about -2 c, so all the molten snow has now frozen, resulting in the roads becoming ice rinks, again, but the re is more heavy snow forecast for tonight/ tomorrow morning :bang:

BTW, the Maverick did very well in the snow, first time I've used it in 4X4 mode, very impressed, didn't skid / lose control once, couldn't have made it to work without it :thumb:

That's nuts Camy!! Yeah I hate it when ppl don't know how to drive in snow. It seems like every year, when we get the first snow, it's like its the first time people have ever seen it! Stupid! :bill:

We don't get much snow here, Scott, but when it does snow you should see the mess !!! Accidents galore, and I'm talking with even no more than an inch !!

Camus, I'm glad that you are okay and are now safely at home !!!

Me on the other hand I love to drive in the snow. I'm very good at judging whether or not my vehicle is able to go places or not...and I am very capable of driving in the snow as I have common sense unlike most people in indy :cuss:

I hope I don't sound conceited and I hope you guys don't think I am the next to get into an accident cuz that is surely not the case.

Doesn't sound conceited to me, Scott. Like you said, you use common sense.

Unfortunately some of these people down south do not use common sense. They get a little bit of snow and ice on the road down here, and it causes major mayhem. :cuss: I prefer to stay off the roads when this happens, if possible, in order to avoid them.

Do you get a lot of snow in that area?

When this year's first snowfall hit Toronto, they had close to 400 accidents in just three inches of snow. You'd figure us Canadians would know how to drive in the white slippery stuff. :bill:

I tend to take sideroads when snow hits. I trust my own driving skills much more than those of others.

Sometimes we get hit good and sometimes we don't. But I am exactly like you...instead of taking main roads I will take side roads and make it to my location perfectly fine.

We might see snow once a year, if we are lucky. I really do love seeing it snow and can remember a number of times when the snow was significant. I can also remember some ice storms that were pretty bad.

Most of the time, when we get snow there is not too much accumulation. However, it is enough to cause havoc on the roads.

I would sooo love to see a white Christmas !!!  Unfortunately, that is very doubtful.

Well, we first had snow on Monday, during the day it melted, then froze at night, Tuesday it defrosted, then the temp dropped below freezing in the early afternoon, resulting in a good couple of inches of solid ice below todays snowfall :cuss: :cuss:

Before I went over to the dark side, I enjoyed driving the Escape in the snow. In 4x4 mode, it was very capable.
