I just recently did a tune up, and I was thinking about running a few cycles of auto-rx to clean out the engine.http://www.auto-rx.com/
The site has some really good testimonials, but I wanted to do a semi-scientific experiment to see how well it works. :bag:

They recommend cutting open the oil filter to see what it caught, but it has to be done in the right way so as to not introduce metal and ruin the results. Does anyone know of the best way to cut open a filter?

Also has anyone used this before?

In the past, I have pounded a hole through the side using a large screwdriver and finished the job with a pair of tin snips. I would avoid using any sort of tool that cuts by grinding (i.e., Dremel, hacksaw, etc.) because that will add metal shavings to your filter.
