I tried to find the answer in the FAQ first, but didn't see what I was looking for. Can someone enlighten me on the meaning of the flashing Escape rear end that is to the left of all the forum titles? Some are not flashing, some flash red, others white......is there a meaning behind it?

The flashing ones indicate you haven't read all of the posts there. I don't know about the different colours, other than the picture is the front of an Escape on the index page (white) and the rear of an Escape inside of a forum (red).

Here's the key:

Escape in black & white = no new posts
Escape in colo(u)r = new posts

No flashing = fewer than ten posts
Flashing = "hot topic" (more than ten posts)

No red exclamation point (!) = you've never posted in that thread
Red exclamation point (!) = you've posted in that thread at least once

Good info...question though.
What does it mean if there are 2 escapesshowing for the same forum in the index (1 large, 1 small)?
That means there are subforums. Right now only Problems and Solutions has that format to keep our How-To articles separate.
