This is a custom bezel mount that can be purchased at http://www.bracketron.com/index.php?mod ... d=2&pid=11

I placed my order on Sunday and it arrived by UPS today, Thursday. So shipping was pretty quick.

Here is what the Bracketron looks like installed in my '09 Escape.

It is easy to install. Just gently pry the upper bezel toward you. In the picture below there are arrows pointing to where the clips hold the bezel in place. Don't pry up. Pull it out straight back (forward). It will actually come off pretty easy.

Now don't pull too far. There is a wire going to the passenger airbag light. Perhaps this airbag light isn't on the 2008 models because my instruction sheet didn't mention it. But it's no big deal, just don't unplug it because it looks like it would be hard to plug back in. Simply move it over a bit so you can get to the bolt. Use a 7mm socket to undo the bolt, slip the Bracketron in between the mounting holes, reapply the bolt.

Now just press the bezel back into place.

Here's a picture with my cellular phone.

Here's a picture with a radio scanner.

Here's my favorite picture with the iPod.

Ultimately I will be mounting the control head for an amateur radio on the Bracketron, but until then I'll enjoy using it for everything else. Overall I'm happy with the Bracketron. It does make the gap between the bezel and the rest of the console a bit wider on the right-hand side, but I don't think anyone one would notice unless they had been installing it and looking for imperfection. I would recommend this product.

I'll add my new favorite Bracketron picture. Here is my Garmin Nuvi 350 mounted to the Bracketron with some tape. I think with some additional mounting hardware, available from Garmin, I can make this really sturdy. Notice that I have GPS lock inside the Escape that is inside the garage. Not too bad.

Yeah -- but another $20 for a universal holder? or is that not necessary?
I guess it depends on what you are going to do with it and what hardware you already have. If you are looking for something more generic, they also sell universal holders for GPS and cellular phones. Example:

Ah yes -- that's the one I would want. I'd want something portable (and cheap  ). Another plus, your device will never get overheated. :frozen:
