Hi

I have a 2009 Escape limited that needs new brake pads. I have been trying to find the right tool to remove the caliper slide pins that I can get the caliper off and replace the pads. Any idea what tool to use?

The slide pins are what I need to get off the caliper. They have plastic caps on them, and face the back of the wheel well. I am not sure if they are socket head bolts - can't see them.

I'm missing something here. Not sure what you're asking. (I have an excuse, I'm fighting the flu) :wacko:

You want to remove the caliper slide pins. To do that, you need to remove the plastic caps off the pins/bolt. On the older Escapes (2005), they're 9mm hex bolts. Is that what you're asking?

Yes. This is funny - I went to the AutoZone store to get hex sockets, and they come in 7, 8 and 10 mm. No 9mm. I'm screwed!! LOL

A few years ago, I bought a hex bit socket set at Walmart, and it came with like 8 metric pieces. I'm pretty sure 9mm was among them. Otherwise, Amazon.com FTW!
