Bull bar - 2010 Escape

5386 Views 11 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  CharlieJ
Hi All,

So I'm looking to get a bull bar for my new Escape.
So far I've found that GoRhino and Westin manufacture these bars, though I cannot seem to find any pictures of them installed to see the difference between them.

Any opinions on these bars?
Any other companies offer them?
Any pics to see what they look like installed?

Thanks,

Here's a picture of the Westin.

Not sure about the GoRhino.
If your looking for a bar that is actully going to work as a bull bar you'll have to add some brackets to stabilize the bar if it is actually used. if you want it for looks they are nice and very easy to install on th 08's.

FYI: i have new nerf bars that were on my rig for about 2 days for 100.00 plus shipping.

I bought one from BestInAuto on eBay = $189.99 shipped. Arrived in 3 days. Well packaged and looks GREAT!

There was no name brand on this bar, but it is good quality. The install took me 3 hours, but then again, I'm a complete novice at mechanics. The longest period was keeping my hands from sweating too much while cutting the valance into three pieces. Haha! Someone with more experience could have completed the install in less than two hours.

Here are a couple pics... glad to take more and post them if you need!

Saw this the other day and wonder if this would be overboard? I like the look but not sure if its worth it...seeing how I prob wont take it off road :bang:

yea those are for brush and limbs. No sense in spending the $$$ if your not going to use it. even my bull bar, before I added brackets would barely do anything if the unforeseen animal did cross the road. The stock mount for the "E" is pretty much for physical attraction only.
I don't like that one on the 2010 either, it's not shaped well.

I like how my new one fits and in my opinion is how they are supposed to look.

My old one (currently in my sig) stuck out too far. And that one on the 2010 just doesn't look right.

I think they do help in a collision, that cow I hit didn't do near as much damage as I thought it should have. Mounting brackets did not give way.

that new brush gaurd looks sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :thumb:
they must mount way different then the Westins. Westins a great product but the mounting system for the "E" could have been much more sturdy and still have some give to it.
Who makes your new guard, I may copy it and make one in the future..
Epacse, the full brush bar is overkill, if you're not gonna use it for off roading. Post a pic of your 'scape and let us see what it looks like. Maybe we can offer better suggestions once we know how it looks now.
