Thought I would share a few pictures of my pride and joy, my 1995 P38 Range Rover 4.6 V8 HSE…

I have spent the last 5 years gradually restoring her from a non running “wreck” to how she is today.

217,000 miles on the clock, original engine and gearbox, returned back to stock condition, including reinstating the air suspension, replacing damaged interior trim, restoring the Connolly leather seats and Wilton carpet, and even managed to get its GPS navigation unit working again….

Great looking Range Rover Camus. In the US, many RVers with motorized RVs tow an additional vehicle behind the RV. The phrase they use to speak about the vehicle is "toad". Does your Range Rover have the ability to shift both differentials into neutral? If it does, you could flat tow your Range Rover if the Camper van is capable.

With regards for your suggestion regarding towing the Rangie, that wouldn’t work for 2 reasons..

1, The Rangie can only be towed on wheels for only a short distance, definitely not more than 10 miles as it could possibly damage the auto transmission, and the cars air suspension could get damaged, as the compressor won’t work with the engine switched off.

2,In Great Britain, the laws regarding towing a vehicle have changed after a number of accidents with camper vans, motor homes etc flat towing a car behind it and that is now illegal.

A vehicle can only be towed on the road if it’s fully road legal and has suffered a mechanical defect, and is either being moved to a place of safety, or to repair premises e.g. a garage, and the towed vehicle has to have a driver on board whom is insured to drive it.

So the only option available nowadays over here if to put the car on a flatbed trailer if you wish to tow it behind the RV.

It does make sense. We are looking to move over to a Class A (similar to a bus) with a flat towable vehicle for running around once we get there.

Over here anything larger than a Ford Transit, VW Transporter size is quite rare, due to the sheer size which is not really practical on our road network..

Yes, I still have the giant 5th wheel.

The 5th wheel is a 2017 Heartland Landmark Charleston that is 43 ft long (13 m long) and has a GVWR of 18,000 lbs (8,160 kg). It is towed by a 2015 Ford F450 SuperDuty pickup. The last time I weighed the two, it weighed about 29,000 lbs (13,150 kg).

WOW, Charles I never knew you had that rig, last I remember was an RV, think it was your first back in 2016, seem to recall a brownish colour, but that really is impressive, must be approaching the length of a artic lorry…

In Britain, due to it’s weight (over 3500kg prime mover and total train weight over 7000kg you would need a HGV licence to drive it on the roads..

That one was a 2001 Newmar Dutch Star Class A motorhome that was 38 ft (11.5m) long. I loved that thing because it didn't have all of the emissions foolishness installed. I traded that one on this one. We would love to get another one.

I remember you posting when you first got that, wow 38’ long, that’s some length!
As for emissions, well none of my fleet is exactly compliant, where I live a “low emission zone” comes into play on Jan 1st 2022, and guess what, none of my fleet complies, thankfully I live just outside it by about 500 yards, if I wish to go to my local supermarket (which I can see from my house) it will cost me £11 to enter the zone, but thankfully I have another option of turning right off my cul de sac and joining the motorway M606, and go elsewhere…..

And as for my P38 it actually failed it’s annual MOT 2 years ago on emissions, wasn’t within manufactures tolerances (Landrover), as it was emitting LESS than they specified, so in order to get it passed we had to make it MORE polluting!!!!

And as for my P38 it actually failed it’s annual MOT 2 years ago on emissions, wasn’t within manufactures tolerances (Landrover), as it was emitting LESS than they specified, so in order to get it passed we had to make it MORE polluting!!!!

I have NEVER heard of a vehicle failing Smog because it didn't pollute!!! Sounds like the US state of California!!!
