Well, today I took a coach party to Port Sunlight, in the Wirral

Wow, you may be thinking, but in order to get there, you drive past Ellesmere Port, which is the home to Vauxhalls's (AKA General Motors) Astra production plant's, staff car park.

You would think that an employee of a car factory would own a car made by their employer (E.G. a Ford worker having a Ford car etc), but no, the car park was full of Japanese cars, French cars, even Ford's, but NO Vauxhalls....

Well, if the employees chose to purchase competitors cars, rather than their employers own range, ( or what they actually make), what message does that send out to other people

That's interesting to hear...

I remember that when Ford did their "Bold Moves" campaign a couple years ago, they showed the NA VP of Operations visiting the Toyota Factory and others being built in Texas. All of the employees of the Factory had Ford and Chevy Pickups, as did the contractors building the places...

Back in the 70s I got hired on at the GM assembly plant in Arlington, TX. Then they built Monte Carlos, Cutlass, Chevelle's...

I drove a Mercury Marquis and had just paid it off. They were after me to trade it in for a Chevy or Olds. I was ok with that idea, except that they were unwilling to make me permanent on the payroll. I was a temp. I thought, Nah. Make me permanent first, I didn't want any payments will looking for a new job if I get laid off... I rode with a buddy to work after that. He owned a Monte Carlo. I told my boss it was mine. Two weeks later they laid me off...

So I say, dance with the one who brought you there. :bill:
