I would keep it the same diameter as what I currently have...but will it make things different if I make 2 outlets instead of just 1?

I had to adjust mine too so it didnt hit the subframe.

If you look at the way the hangars fit, you will see that by sliding the tail pipe back or forward, will raise or lower the pipe. There is lots of room to slide it as the back end of the muffler has lots of overlap with the tail pipe.

I now have mine fitting so there is no bumping or banging, only took a few minutes to adjust between test drives. Not nearly as difficult as getting the old muffler off.

I tried adjusting...I can't get it though...when I go home this weekend I will see if we can put it up on a lift and have better luck moving it. laying underneath it doesn't give me a lot to work with

I got the knocking taking care of! What I ended up doing was loosening up the U-bolts on the muffler/tailpipe. Turned it counter-clockwise a little bit and tightened the U-bolts up. Next one of the hangars was hanging down too low from the rubber mount so I warmed up the hangar with a torch and bent it so that it would be in the perfect position. Slipped the hanger in the mount and VOILA!! No more noise!

How do you like the sound? I am VERY pleased with mine. I did not want the 'kid racer/coffee can' noise, but was looking for better power and mileage.

Prior to putting this system on my Escape. The exhaust sounded like a leaf blower when passing or pulling hard. That's all gone now, and not much increase in exhaust noise, but I am getting better fuel mileage, and it feels like it has more power.

I like it a lot! It has a much deeper tone. I don't have much more info yet and I don't feel like it gave me more power. I'll check on the mileage on the next couple of tanks.
