Cat Back Exhaust

I have ordered a Magnaflow Cat Back for my 2008 V6 LTD Escape. I was wondering if anyone on this forum has added this system to their Escapes, and if so, what kind of differences you may have noticed, ie: power, fuel mileage, noise? I dont want mine to sound like a coffee can muffler.. lol.

Been pretty good man! You don't come around here often anymore do ya?
Anyone know of or installed a catback system on a 2008, 2wd, 3L that exits out like the factory exhaust? Not interested in one of the side exits. Thanks
I'm almost certain the Magnaflow exits just like the stock system, although for $539, I would just have one custom made at a shop. It'll be cheaper.

edit: woohoo first post in 6 months. I'm glad I finally made it back the the -city.
I have mine for sale!!!
Scooter, my connection at a nearby Precision Tune offered to install the Magnaflow system for $98. Should I have them do it? I don't really have the resources or the courage (afraid of breaking something), and the deal with the larger diameter pipe hitting the subframe sounds like something I would rather avoid. My other option is working on it with my girlfriend's brother (who is a mechanic, and enjoys working with cars). He's got jacks and stuff. My Escape has <6500 miles on it, so hopefully everything isn't rusted over yet. Let me know what you think...
Hello abusch. Thanks for submitting the link, and yes it is functioning. :) :thumb:
Well if you take it to a muffler shop then they would be able to make sure that it fits. I don't know if this system will fit your ride or not...I can try to confirm with Magnaflow if you like.
I took the part number from the Magnaflow website for a 2009 Ford (Truck) Escape V6 exhaust kit... so I would assume it should fit... but who knows?
Sounds good to me...It's packaged and ready to ship if you want it. PM me your address and I will get a shipping quote.
I also just confirmed it as well. Good thing this works for the newer years too...this makes it a must have for anyone with a newer Escape :)
new to the forum and i havent really found what i was looking for, but you guys seem to have some info i could use. i have an 08 mariner 3.0L V6 AWD. im looking for an aftermarker bolt on exhaust, in case i gotta put it on myself. i know that the escape, mariner and tribute are all basically the same vehicle and i can find systems for the ford and mazda but not the mercury :wall: . are they all interchangable or am i just gonna have to find a shop to do it custom? thank you much.
They are interchangable applicable to your year and model of vehicle. Sometimes for the money you can get a custom exhaust for cheaper than you would to order one all depends on the shop you go to.

Honestly I do not know if they are the same. I would assume they are so I would say I am 75% sure that they are given all 3 are the same platform just different names. If you want the cheapest then buy the mufflers and have it cut into the current exhaust and get rid of the resonator as well. I did that with my Jeep. Took off he stock muffler and had the muffler shop weld in a new one. $70 for the muffler and $60 for the labor. Lots cheaper than the $400+ pricetag of a bolt on system.
dual exit exhausts out the back any one have any info, vids anything?

AJax had this done. It is possible. Very tricky though as there is not a lot of room under there for duals lol.

I've got it on mine. It was on there when I bought it so I can't give you any details really. It's routed through where the rear diff would be. Here's cell phone pics of the day I brought it home. Sorry about the quality. But yes, it is definately possible.

08 and later Mariner have a cut out in the bumper cover for the exhaust tip. So, it would appear to be a different tailpipe and tip, not so sure that anything else is different.

I test drove a Mariner back to back with a Tribute and the exhaust did not sound any different, at least on the inside of the truck. I never noticed the tip on the Mariner pipe till after I bought the Tribute! I assume the tip is only cosmetics at work.
MAKE sure to Upgrade the I/H/E. You got a freer flowing exhaust, now Install a CAI for more Air In, and a 4-2-1 Headder for more flow. You SHOULD do a simple tuning of the ECU and you should net about 18-40 HP depending on the quality of the parts (no ECU tune.. only 8-15 HP) :D
Where would I go about finding headers for an 05' Mazda Tribute V6 AWD?
