I can hear it echo while driving beside parked cars or a concrete wall. It sounds like a flat, crisp clack or clank or splat--like I just drove over a flattened plastic water bottle.
It seems to happen in straight motion and during shifts while accelerating or decelerating. I had new front struts installed and new rotors+pads--all Motorcraft. I swear I can feel the 'clack' through the brake pedal. Could it be a pad slapping back and forth?
I had side mounts done several months ago, so those will be fine. Could this be a forward or rear mount moving?
The clack sound seems to be there when car is warmed up. It's NOT a thud or a clunk; NOT a clicking on turns; NOT caused by bumps. Only straight motion and during shifts while accelerating; and seems to be on braking at times.
No performance issues; no wander; no shimmy. Just that sound as if I ran over a flattened plastic water bottle. Mechanic could not duplicate it but re-lubed caliper slider pins.
