I noticed last night that when the 'Scape is in P and I press the button to shift, there is a clicking sound. It sounds like a switch or relay and it comes from lower dash or near the steering column. I'm guessing that it is part of the check to make sure your foot is on the brake.

I'm just making sure. I've had an Aerostar and a Windstar minivan and both had some strange quirky electrical issues so I might be a little hypersensative in any Ford. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

I'd say its something to make sure you have your foot applied to the brake before it goes in gear...

It's the hamster getting into the wheel...

Try it with your foot on the brake. Anymore who knows with all this High-Tech stuff. I didn't know cars had "black boxes" until the Prius mess happened.
